Digital School

Visible Increase in the Number of Girls in Technology

How is Digital School helping to increase the number of girls in technology? With the growing awareness about the importance of learning about information technology, the number of students at Digital School has also increased, especially the number of girls. Their participation in most of the groups has significantly risen, and currently, the percentage of girls learning programming at Digital School is over 30%. This increase in the percentage of girls is also evident in the various events and competitions organized by Digital School each year, such as: ‘48-Hour Hackathon’, ‘Girls in ICT’, ‘November Code Fest’, ‘Summer School’, ‘Hour of Code’, and more.

This year, the Digital School in Pristina has kicked off winter courses, where over 100 students successfully completed a 5-day intensive course in the most sought-after skills in the market: UI/UX web design and artificial intelligence.
Among the students, there is a significant percentage of girls, who make us proud with their dedication and creativity during the development of impressive projects.
The adolescent girls at our school have created creative and functional programs that challenge even the professional projects of local and international tech companies – including real projects for clients.

We remind that during 2023, on the occasion of Girls in ICT Day, we hosted over 150 participants at the Digital School in Pristina to discuss the journey of future programmers, opportunities for girls in the ICT industry, and the inspiring success stories of girls.
In the effort to promote gender equality, the Digital School has managed to increase the participation of females in staff and in the number of students. While the female participation in staff is over 56%, their percentage in the student body is around 30%, showing a continuous commitment to encourage and include more girls in the field of technology.

Our goal is to continue increasing the percentage of girls in the field of technology (STEM) to approach a 50% girls and 50% boys ratio in the number of active students at the school.

We invite all girls aged 8 to 18 to join us and learn coding because our future is in your hands.
